Facial rejuvenation As Part of Cosmetic Surgery

Facial rejuvenation As Part of Cosmetic Surgery

The passage of time comes with aesthetic changes for most people, particularly in the facial area.  The skin loses its smoothness, firmness and color. Furthermore, wrinkles and skin lesions might appear, giving an unpleasant aspect that cannot be removed by makeup.

Facial rejuvenation can be done using various methods. Ptosis of skin can be corrected by face lift, a method by which excess skin is removed or spread. Excess skin on the eyelids can be also removed by blepharoplasty, a kind of surgery that is known for being extremely effective. All these surgical procedures cannot remove some wrinkles, however, whose cure can be botulinum toxin injections, as well as non-surgical methods of facial rejuvenation.

Preoperative preparation for facial rejuvenation

Before the facial rejuvenation procedure, whether it is a surgical or non-surgical one, the doctor will run the patient through a series of tests that are vital for the intervention. For example, some allergy tests will be performed to reduce the risk of a possible allergic reaction to the substances used during the intervention. Finally, a strict diet and smoking cessation are also desirable.

Facial rejuvenation by peeling

Peeling is a non-surgical rejuvenation of the face. This intervention is performed by applying acid on the skin in order to "burn" the aging cells. After this process, skin becomes stretched and regenerated. To remove dead skin tissue, a laser peel device might be used.Chemicals used for facial rejuvenation by peeling are  trichloroacetic acid (TCA) , glycolic acid and phenol, which is less used but still effective.

Injections of Botulinum toxin for facial rejuvenation

To reduce wrinkles on the forehead between the eyebrows and those positioned at the bottom of the eye, injections of botulinum toxin can be used. Botox causes the weakness of the muscles that generate the wrinkles.

Possible complications of the process of rejuvenation of the face
Complications are generally minor and depend on the type of intervention performed. Surgical methods of facial rejuvenation such as facelift, blepharoplasty can lead to burning sensations and bleeding. On the other hand, non-surgical interventions can rarely lead to the occurrence of complications such as uneven pigmentation of the face. Complications depend to a great extent on individual anatomical features of every patient.

Can you write a hub about the costs of these procedures and possible side effects of the botox injections? Thanks!
