Technologically Advanced Rhinoplasty Methods
Rhinoplasty is also known as nose surgery. It is a type of surgical procedure conducted on individuals who want to improve the shape or size of their nose in order to achieve the kind of look and physical appearance that they want to achieve. Nose surgery is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures that are commonly accessed by Americans and other individuals all over the world.
Modern Rhinoplasty Techniques
The most common nose lift techniques are closed and open nose surgery. Closed nose surgery is done by having the incisions inside the nostrils so no scars are visible. Whereas, the open nose surgery is done by doing the incisions on the outside of the nose making the scars noticeable on plain view. However, through the years, new and more advanced rhinoplasty methods were developed and each of them focuses on specific areas of the nose. The following are some of the techniques:
- Rasping. This technique is conducted when the patient wants to make her nose look smoother by removing the nasal bridge or the bony hump on the upper side of the nose.
- Cephalic Resection. This method is conducted by removing the tip of the nose cartilage in order to narrow down the nasal tip. This is ideal for people with flat or stump nose who want to make their nose look longer
- Spreader Graft. This is a type of rhinoplasty method that is suitable for people with wide, narrow or long noses. The surgeon will cut nose cartilage in rectangular strips which would then be placed in between the upper lateral cartilage and septum.
- Osteotomies. This is quite a sensitive surgical procedure of the nose because it involves breaking and cutting the nasal bone to reduce the nose bridge, the overall size of the nose and also when the nose is twisted and needs serious correction.
- Plumping Grafts. This rhinoplasty technique is ideal for individuals who have acute or retraced upper lip. The procedure will reconstruct the normal form of the nose and will provide the patient the right nose angle. This nose lift procedure is done by placing the patient’s own cartilage at the base of the nose.
- Strut. This type of nose lift surgical procedure involves the placing of a rectangular piece of cartilage between the nasal tip and the medial crura. This technique is ideal for people with extremely small and narrow nostrils. After the procedure, the nose tip would appear rounder and symmetrical to the other parts of the face.
